50+ friction points I didn’t know existed

I met with a bunch of CEOs a few weeks ago, and they all wanted the same thing:

To deploy AI in their business.

But none of them knew how.

I think the first thing people lean towards in situations like this is: find a consultant. Find an expert to come in, find the problem, build the solutions, and hand it off.

But one guy asked the key question: what happens when they disappear?

That’s the whole problem with consultants. Whatever they build eventually breaks, and then you’re back where you started.

So we tried something at one of my businesses. We made a new position, I’m calling the AI Czar. It’s a seat in the company whose job is to implement AI, moving from project to project.

As soon as we hired this guy, people showed up with nearly 50 different projects.

Stuff that would take this guy three hours to automate, but would save somebody else 200 hours in a year. Grunt work, copy-pasting, transferring stuff between systems. Stuff you couldn’t hire a programmer to fix because it wouldn’t be worth the ROI. Before AI, it’d take 3 months to code it. Now, it’s 3 hours to build, test, and deploy it. Crazy.

We prioritize his work, and he just crunches through it.

The wildest part for me was just how many projects came out of the woodwork as soon as a solution became available.

We would never have known.

And that’s the takeaway here:

Until you offer a solution to people, you won’t know how much grunt work they’re carrying.

We hired our AI Czar through my Latin American staffing business Hire With Near.

At first I thought it was a bit of a gamble. I wasn’t sure it was a full-time role.

Fifty projects later, it’s obvious in retrospect.

But we never would have known without someone in the chair first.
